Halo's Accountability Framework

What is the Halo Accountability Framework?
A structured framework to ensure schools that sign up to the Halo Code actively uphold their commitment to protecting and celebrating Afro-textured hair.
The framework will initially be piloted with a select group of Halo schools before being rolled out more widely across the entire adoptee network at a later date. Insights gathered throughout the pilot will help refine the approach, ensuring it is fair, effective and sustainable.
Accountability Framework
Below is an explanation of how we will ensure Halo adoptees actively uphold their commitment.
Annual Reporting
Halo adoptees will submit an annual report outlining the actions they have taken to foster an inclusive environment for Afro-textured hair.
Anonymous Questionnaires
A digital anonymous questionnaire will be distributed to students and employees. This survey provides them with a safe and confidential platform to share their experiences of how the school/workplace is upholding the Code.
Traffic Light System
A transparent Traffic Light System to assess Halo Code adoptees' engagement and progress. The levels - green, amber and red- will inform the Halo Collective of what actions need to be taken in each school.
Halo Guardians
Halo Guardians are student/employee representatives who will act as accessible contact points, help promote awareness of the Halo Code, maintain confidentiality where concerns arise and liaise directly with the Halo Collective where needed.
Pilot Accountability Process
The Pilot Accountability Process reinforces that signing the Halo Code is not a symbolic act. Here are the findings from our structured listening campaign, the first step in our pilot phase.
